Cruise details:
Ok, now for the long awaited details of the cruise. Our initial meeting place for this year's RoundUp will be at the Blue Bell Creamery at 1300 on Friday. We will spend some time at the observation deck, the gift shop and of course the ice cream parlor. The observation deck is open until 1400 and the gift shop and parlor are open till 1700. There is no set time I'm expecting to leave the Blue Bell Creamery but we'll check into the hotel afterwards and have time to unwind from our respective trips. This is free time until dinner. Dinner reservations are at 1830. We'll be eating at Yumm! Sweets and Eats in the heart of Brenham, TX. located at 106 E Alamo St. Our reservations run until 2100, at which time we'll head back to the hotel. Be sure to fill up your car with gas Friday night so we can start right in on Saturday. Walmart and a couple of gas stations are near the hotel. We'll be having goodie bags for the trip too! Please bring your contributions if you'd like to participate. Elvie and I will collect them on Friday night and for those arriving on Sat we will accept after dinner at the hotel then.

Saturday morning breakfast at the hotel. Be aware it is only a continental breakfast, no hot food items except for waffles. We plan to leave the hotel at 0915. Drive about 45 minutes to Old Baylor Park in Independence, TX. Good photo opportunities at the park as well as several signs around the park describing what you see. After arriving at 1000 and spending about 45 minutes at the park we'll drive to our lunch stop at Mallett Brother's Barbeque, 9339 Hwy 6, in Navasota, TX. Lunch will be 1115 - 1245. After lunch we'll drive another 40 minutes to the Historic Austin County Jail Museum in downtown Bellville, TX. No entry fee but donations are appreciated. We'll be at the museum from 1330 until 1415. Leaving the museum we'll drive 45 minutes to Washington on the Brazos State Park, arriving at 1500. Here we will have 1 1/2 hours to explore the park and what it has to offer. There is a guided tour to independence hall, a recreation of the place where the Texas forefathers made the formal declaration of independence from Mexico. There is also the Star of the Republic Museum and Barrington Living History Farm. It will be difficult to see everything there so I encourage you to visit their web site to see what you'd like to visit while there. Driving back to the hotel from the park should take about 30 minutes, arriving at 1700. This will give everyone about an hour or so to unwind before dinner at the Los Cabos Mexican Grill & Steak House, at 2800 TX-36. Dinner is very close to the hotel, walking is possible, and will be from 1830 - 2100. Back at the hotel we'll pack and distribute the goodie bags.

Sunday we'll head off to the Chappell Hill Bakery and Deli at 0900 for breakfast and goodbyes. Save some room in your vehicle for some great baked goods to-go if this is of interest!
